Some bikes came fitted with a single-sided front hub, while others used a full-width cast front hub. Most A65 models featured the well-known Crinkle rear hub, although we’ve come across other variations over the years—whether factory-fitted or added later is often unclear.
The BSA A65 stands as one of the most recognisable British motorcycles of the 1960s. Produced between 1962 and 1972 by the Birmingham Small Arms Company, it features a 650cc parallel twin engine developed with the American market in mind. Riders value it for its strong performance and clean, modern styling.
BSA improved the A65 by introducing a unit-construction engine, combining the engine and gearbox into a single casing. This design increased reliability and significantly reduced oil leaks, making the bike more practical and refined for everyday use.
